Below is a list of 'Job Seeker' specific frequently asked questions:

How do I login?
If you are a member, you can log in using your member login details (your email address and password). You should have received an email confirming your details.  If you have forgotten your password click that link and we will reset it and email it to you.

I have typed in my password and email address correctly, why can't I log on?
Are you using the correct password? If you have forgotten your password click that link and we will reset it and email it to you.

I am trying to register, but keep getting an error message - what could be the problem?
If you are getting the message 'This email is already registered on our system', you may have registered with ScotEdJobs in the past and your details still exist on the system – either as a recruiter or a candidate. Please try using an alternative email address and password to register with.

How do I change my login details
Log in using your existing details. You will bring up the “My ScotEdJobs” page. Click on “Membership” and this screen will enable you to change your name, username, password, etc.

How do I register to be a member of ScotEdJobs?
Click on ‘My ScotEdJobs’, you will be taken to a screen where you can select a link to register. Click this link and you will then be taken to a screen displaying a registration form. Simply complete this form and press SUBMIT.

How do I search for a job?
You may perform a quick search or an advanced search directly from the Homepage in the blue coloured box. You can also browse all jobs by phase, role type or location, directly from the homepage.  To access your “Saved Searches”, simply login and you will be taken to “My ScotEdJobs”. On this screen you will see all of your saved searches listed and you can access your job basket.

I'm having trouble viewing PDF Application Forms
Please ensure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader [External Link], which you can download from their website.  We recommend Version 8 but you will need to check your computer is equipped to run this programme.  If you are using a Mac please consult the Adobe website for trouble-shooting.

How do I save a search?
Once you have performed a search, you will be taken to a screen where your search results are listed. At the top of this screen is a link titled: “Save this search”. Simply click on this link and you will be taken to a screen where you will be asked for a name for your Saved Search. Once you have input your Saved Search name, click Save. You can then access this from the “My ScotEdJobs” screen, where all your Saved Searches will be listed under the names that you have given them.

How do I set up my email job alerts?
Once you have performed a search, you will be taken to a screen where your search results are listed. At the top of this screen is a link titles: “Email me jobs like these”. Simply click on this link and you will be taken to a screen where you will be asked for a name for your Saved Search. Once you have input your Saved Search name, ensure that the “Create email alert for this saved search” box is ticked and click Save. You can then access this from the “My ScotEdJobs” screen, where all your Saved Searches will be listed under the names that you have given them and you will be able to ‘activate’ or ‘deactivate’ the email alert associated with your saved search.

How do I apply for a job?
Different recruiters may have different application methods. Once you have logged in, you will see at the bottom of the vacancy advertisement application instructions. Application methods include; emailing your CV, contacting the recruiter directly and applying online. If the recruiter wishes for you to apply online a PDF application form will be available to download. Double click on this attachment to download the form. The recruiter will then specify whether you should post or email the application form back directly.

How will I hear if my application has been successful?
The recruiter will contact you directly to let you know if your application has been successful.
